Our Mission
We, as educators, strive to promote the expression of the Orthodox Christian way of life. We believe every child is unique and learning is an individualized and ongoing process. We recognize our opportunity and mutual obligation to develop within each child the skills, virtues and habits of heart and mind needed to meet the challenges of an ever-changing society. Through mutual respect our students will grow and learn in a positive atmosphere, where faculty, staff, parents and students together are enthusiastic about the learning process. To this end in attaining our philosophy we strive:
To teach and practice Orthodox Christian values
To help each student develop to his/her potential in an atmosphere which promotes self-esteem and confidence.
To cultivate an appreciation and respect for others
To identify the relationship among various subjects through a holistic approach to teaching which incorporates culture, religion and citizenship
To promote cooperative learning in a mutually supportive environment which allows each child to perform to the best of his/her ability
To employ teachers who present themselves as positive role models and create a nurturing environment in the classroom
To maintain open channels of communications between school and home recognizing that the student is at the center

Our Principal
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all back to a new and exciting school year!
A special welcome to our new families joining DGK this year. As you know, DGK has an excellent reputation for providing its students with a strong academic foundation along with a deep understanding of the Greek Orthodox Church and culture! It is also known for being a collaborative school where staff, families, Father Gerasimos and Board Members put the needs of the DGK students first!
The philosophy of my leadership has been, and continues to be, “Children First” and to “Build Community.” This can only be accomplished through a clear concise collaboration between and among the principal, school, parents and Board Members. When we keep our focus on our goal…what is in the best interest of our children…then great things happen! Together, we can and will continue to make your children’s educational experience a most valuable one!
Our school will continue to strive for academic excellence by making learning both an enjoyable and educational experience. With the assistance of a most professional teaching staff, we will ensure that your children have a successful year. I consider myself fortunate to be working with you as we engage in our educational partnership in the next academic school year.
